Children at WWG Policy

Last updated: February 2026

Wise Women Gathering (“WWG”, “the Conference”) is a professional educational conference for practitioners and lay women.

At the same time, WWG is committed to supporting intergenerational spaces where families may gather, learn and participate in Wise Traditions. This commitment recognises that some women would be unable to attend without the presence of children, and seeks to balance inclusion with safety, containment and respect for all attendees.

This policy outlines the conditions under which children may attend Wise Women Gathering.

1. scope and eligibility

Babes in arms are welcome at the Conference and may attend education sessions with their primary carer, with the exception of the upstairs containment space. Babes may eat meals from their carer’s plate.

All children aged 3 to 15 years attending Wise Women Gathering must be registered in either Kids Camp or Maiden’s Circle.

Girls of all ages are welcome at the Conference.

Boys may attend Kids Camp up to the age of 10 years.

WWG provides childcare during Education Sessions only.

2. registration requirements

Registration for Kids Camp or Maiden’s Circle is mandatory for all children aged 3–15.

Upon arrival at the Conference, carers may be required to sign an agreement form confirming their understanding of, and agreement to comply with, this policy and all associated conditions.

Failure to register children appropriately may result in refusal of entry or removal from the Conference.

3. supervision and restricted areas

When children are not attending Kids Camp or Maiden’s Circle, they must be supervised by their primary carer at all times.

Children must not enter the following areas without direct carer supervision:

  • the river

  • marketplace

  • healing space

  • readers tent

  • workshop spaces

  • auditorium and dining area

  • toilets and amenities

  • the dirt road between the grassy area and the auditorium

  • outdoor areas at all times

These restrictions are in place to ensure safety, containment and respect for shared spaces.

4. kids camp overview

Kids Camp operates during scheduled day-time Education Sessions to allow carers to attend workshops and presentations.

Carers are expected to be prompt when dropping off and collecting children from Kids Camp.

Kids Camp is located in the Round House and is supported by designated facilitators, including Aswini and Belinda.

5. scheduled kids camp sessions

Kids Camp operates during the following session times:

Friday

  • 8:00–8:20am – Kids and Maiden Ceremony

  • 10:00am–12:15pm – Sessions

  • 1:00pm–3:15pm – Sessions

Saturday

  • 10:00am–12:15pm – Sessions

  • 1:00pm–3:15pm – Sessions

Sunday

  • 10:00am–12:15pm – Sessions

  • 1:00pm–3:00pm – Sessions

Outside of these times, including meal times, early mornings, panels and evenings, children remain the responsibility of their primary carer.

6. additional support for carers

Wise Women Gathering endeavours to support carers in the following ways:

Kids Camp Open Morning - On Friday morning, facilitators will be present in Kids Camp from 8:00–8:20am to allow children to become familiar with the space before returning for the first session at 8:45am following the Opening Ceremony.

Meal times - Children and carers are served first at meal times. Carers are invited to proceed to the front of the line.

Open Mic Night - Children are scheduled to appear on stage with their camp group early in the evening to support early bedtimes. Children must not be unsupervised outdoors at any time.

7. compliance and enforcement

The conditions outlined in this policy have been established in response to safety concerns raised by attendees, marketplace vendors and venue staff. All members of the WWG community are expected to observe these requirements with care and respect. Parents and carers who do not comply with this policy may be asked to leave the Conference and may not be invited to attend future gatherings.

8. policy review

The Children at WWG Policy is a framework designed to support a safe, respectful and nourishing environment for families attending the Conference.

This policy is subject to change without notice. Any updates will be published on the Wise Women Gathering website.
